Let Your Light Shine. Be brave and think of your assignment as there is no turning back, no cold feet, no doubts, no shaking hands, no more looking down lift up your head and smile. YOU Can Do This!
Those are the thoughts that ran through my mind, as am about to audition for the first time in my life, for a part in a movie. Its was not a big role or script but it was an opportunity, to experience working with celebrities, and to feel if that was my calling, to be an actress or a stunt woman 🙂
As I walked into the room it was about 50 persons auditioning for the part, we were approached by one of the co-ordinating directors for costumes. She spoke in a calm voice,” Follow me please just this way to the changing room” Anxiously me, walking through the crowd saying hello as we walk by.
The look on my face wishing I had a camera, same time my heart was beating so fast thinking all the worse that can happen. She gave me number #7, a few pieces of clothing a old dress, flipflops, colorful African print fabric and a human like Baby doll.
She said this part is simple, wrap the baby with this fabric and tie around your waste. Like how they carry the babies around in Africa, she did not show me how, the lady left the changing room. She said in 10 minutes you will have to stand on the stage, for the movie Directors. My answer? In my scared, heart beating fast, while shaking in fear baby voice. “Is That All?”
She never answered me back, it was just me myself and I. That 10 minutes came so fast, feeling like not enough time. She came back smiled and said “Your up next walk along with these 20 ladies.” Whom we’re all dress similar carring a baby wrapped in African printed fabric, and a number on peice of paper, to distinguish which will be chosen for the part.
Walking up the stage, we were ask to stand in one place look facing towards the Directors as they begin to choose the persons that will be in the movie. As I stood there, my eyes begin to wonder around the room, checking on whom is looking back at me.
In the distance was one of the starring Actor in this movie. The ladies were all distracted not realizing standing behind the scene was a popular Hollywood Star, watching the entire time.
20 minutes later we were told to leave the stage and to go back to the changing room. We heard voice shouting from the left side of the stage as we walked away, #3 #6 #7#8 #10 and #14 please come to lounge area in 15 minutes.
As we walked away The Smiling Syndrom hit me, why could I not stop smiling? Felt like a High that would never come down. Little me was playing a role in a movie for 3 days, was the best time and great experience. To work along with the Director Martin Campbell and Team whom were casting the movie Casino Royale 007 in the Bahamas at the time. They called us the Bond Crew, we were able to talk with the actors and see more of the movie scenes. We were paid us 100.00 a day = 300.00 nothing more.
My part in the movie, was a woman holding a baby on the top floor of the bulding, in the African village, where James Bond ”Daniel Graig” was about to capture an agent from Africa – Actor Stunt man ” Sébastien Foucan” That part of the movie was the most intense and exciting.
The outcome for me, iv’e learned to be brave use my talents to create wonderful moments to remember. Talents are apart of Your Dreams.
Big Hugs and Love from
Shandy
