The 1976 demonstration

What historical event fascinates you the most?

The 1976 demonstration was organized by immigrant organizations, workers, and anti-racism allies to protest emerging racism and structural inequality in Norway. This demonstration was specifically addressed the discriminatory practices in housing, employment, and the media, as well as the 1975 “Innvandringsstopp” which had impacted family reunification for foreign workers.

This protest is a key historical event in Norway’s civil rights movement and highlights the long-standing struggle for equal treatment and against systemic discrimination.
